Employees, Dealers and Customers Commemorate the Path to Becoming an American Icon
GRAPEVINE, Texas (2022) – Kubota Tractor Corporation is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year: 50 years of powering and empowering the American dream. To mark the occasion, Kubota is celebrating with employees, dealers, and customers through a series of activities, such as an antique Kubota equipment roadshow, 50th Anniversary history book, increased philanthropic giving, sweepstakes and events planned throughout 2022, all with a message of “thanks and gratitude” to the those that made the company what it is today.
“We are grateful that our iconic orange equipment is at work in every rural landscape, suburban neighborhood, and urban cityscape across America,” said Todd Stucke, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Product Support and Strategic Projects, Kubota Tractor Corporation. “We are proud of the important role our equipment plays in building and maintaining our communities and enhancing our overall way of life. We especially look forward to celebrating with our dealers, who have worked hard to help Kubota establish roots in the U.S. 50 years ago and growing the company to what we are today.”
Although the company’s parent, Kubota Corporation, started in Japan in the late 1800s, the beginnings of what is now Kubota Tractor Corporation in the U.S. was officially founded in 1972. This year, time has been spent digging through the archives for artifacts and anecdotes that harken back to Kubota’s early beginnings of doing business in the U.S. In the process, the team unearthed stories told with a humbleness and gratefulness for where the company is today. This spirit transpired into thanking Kubota employees, dealers, and customers in various ways – not only for helping the company realize past achievements, but also for inspiring it to collectively “to do more, together” for the next 50 years and beyond.
Kubota’s founding was rooted in improving and enabling local Japanese communities to do more, and that ‘do-it-yourself’ drive carried through to the products the company offered in the U.S. in the early 1970s, all built for like-minded property and small business owners. The versatility, reliability and durability of Kubota compact tractors resonated with American customers who took pride in working on their properties. Kubota quickly became the number 1 selling residential tractor in the U.S.
“We like to say that Kubota has been the engine behind getting more done at home, in the fields, and in the neighborhoods and work sites,” said Stucke. “This is why we’re not celebrating the years as much as we are raising up a collective entrepreneurial spirit. You see, whatever your dream, our goal has been to help you build, shape and grow it, on your land, for your business, or in your community.” Staying close to its dealers and customers and listening to their feedback has helped Kubota identify future needs, making the company and its equipment better. Stucke added, “We didn’t get to where we are today without our dealers. In fact, their needs spark our product development and the
advancements that continue to set Kubota apart.”
What began as one tractor model in 1972 is now more than 200+ machines with product portfolios spanning ag, residential, turf, outdoor and construction markets. The company continues to invest in U.S. facilities and jobs – more than $320 million this year alone – to manufacture more Kubota products and more efficiently distribute them to customers across the country. Investments include U.S.-based R&D facilities that will deliver new technology and models that not only will advance the ways customers use Kubota equipment today, but that will shape how technology helps us use equipment well into the future.
